Way to put things back on point. Really, has anyone ever said Twitter would solve the Real Estate Crisis? They are information transmission sites. Any business one might pick up by being on them is ancillary to the wealth of information you are provided, personally & business-wise
I have just re-read a recent featured post by Active Rainer Jennifer Allan titled "Social Media Is not the Solution to the Real Estate Crisis." In her post, Jennifer writes "I'm among the crowd who "just doesn't get it."
Fine. You don't get the value of Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
That's cool.
But as far as solving the real estate crisis, who said that it would?
Social media is a way to stay connected. It's great for that.
But are you really trying to solve the real estate crisis?
I am not. Honestly, the problem is bigger than me or any other Realtor...
I am trying to help people achieve their housing goals. I can do that very well.
But I cannot fix the housing "crisis". Taking nice pictures and having lockboxes that work won't make home values go up. They won't. Knocking Twitter won't help either...
We as an industry should take a realistic look at our roles. Sure, we can help our clients accomplish their housing goals...
But we cannot correct the imbalance of supply and demand that we have in today's real estate market. Therefore house prices continue to fall (see this mornings Case-Shiller numbers).
So as for me, I will continue to use my Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn profiles for what they were intended...
To market myself, my services, and my listings.
If you don't want to use these free tools, great.
But I don't understand why it is suddenly popular to bash such powerful tools.
