Let me Repeat that - - - Sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico are no longer FREE in West Pasco Florida
Never thought I would see the day, but it does not surprise me. Quick little bit of background. We saw a massive explosion in new construction in Pasco, particularly West Pasco. They even began building our version of "The Villages" an all inclusive Master Planned Community for 10's of 1,000's of residents.
So did Pasco County save some money for a rainy day? Thats a rhetorical question, we all know the answer.
So what is their genius solutions? Charging for parking at all of the parks on the Gulf in West Pasco. Of course you could opt for the $60 annual pass. Now as an individual this will not be a big deal for me, but what about the 13% (actually probably around 20%) unemployed?
More importantly, what about business like Sam's Waterfront Restaurant and Inn on the Gulf that depend on the free parking because they have such limited parking for their business's already. And these are not high end dining establishments where they can absorb the parking fee and take it off each patrons bill.
Good going West Pasco, way to look out for the small business owner. Is our current unemployment rate not high enough for your satisfaction?

Hi, Daniel.
Local Governments here in Florida are completely out of control. They have raised their salaries and perks and retirement to unsustainable levels... so they come out with these new Taxes (and that is what they are - taxes).
Daniel, here in Tallahassee we now have the Most Conservative State Legislature in America. Many of our Senators and Representatives have an absolute disdain for Government, for Taxes, Fees, Regulation, and Bureaucracy. We also have Governor-Elect Rick Scott, who was shook down by the Clinton Administration for $1.25 Billion in Medicare Taxes. He is no fan of Bureaucrats.
Consider contacting your Senator or Representative. Come to the new Governor's Open House next month, and shake his hand.
Even though it is State vs. Local, there may be some help from Tallahassee.
worst part of it all Fred, The county park adminstrator said they would not enforce the parking fees right away, to give the community time to acclimate to the new rules.
Sheriffs Department disagreed and began writing tickets first week.
And some people wonder why so many are screaming about too big out of control government. I was very pleased with the election results, and hopefully things will be turning around soon
Hi Dan. I am very disappointing considering unemployment in Pasco just increased to 13.5% from 12.7%.
It does not give hope for a speedy turn around any time soon Lana
